MMLT, Montessori Methodology in Language Training for adults

1 Lesson 5 Chapters 5 Activities

The aim of this course is to supply teachers with useful, practical, user-friendly tools for teaching languages to adults in a more effective way. It aims at offering new insights to University language teachers, language teachers in courses for adults in other kinds of institutions, and teachers trainers. Its final beneficiaries are therefore University language students and adult language learners everywhere.

This manual can be adapted to the teacher’s soft skills, experience and personal attitudes, and can be used in addition to the teacher’s own methodology and the students’ level.

Teachers will find several activities and perhaps some of them are currently being applied. The aim of this manual is not to supply new activities but to show a different approach based on Montessori principles, even with those activities already used.

In Chapter 1 a brief introduction about the Montessori method and the list of 12 Montessori principles we took into consideration for the application to adults.

In Chapter 2 and 3 tables with some examples have been given, to let teachers experience the application of Montessori principles to adults, leaving them free to adapt both suggested activities and approach.

In Chapter 4 more in-depth information about the Montessori method and its principles, how and where we started and more information about MMLT Project.

In Chapter 5 considerations, improvements and comments after the Piloting.
