The InclusiVET course was developed as part of the Erasmus+ project InclusiVET, co-funded by the European Union, with the aim of providing an inclusive and empowering learning pathway for artists with disabilities. The course offers a practical framework that supports learners in developing their artistic identity, strengthening their professional skills, and building sustainable cultural projects and creative enterprises. It is designed for educators, trainers, mentors, facilitators, and cultural organisations working in both European and Latin American contexts, responding to the growing need for accessible and adaptable vocational training in the arts.
Rooted in the principles of human rights, the social model of disability, and artistic self-determination, the course promotes the understanding that participation in creative work and cultural expression is a universal right. It encourages learners to develop confidence, autonomy, and long-term professional goals, while also supporting inclusive teaching practices that respect diverse needs and abilities.
The course was created through a transcontinental collaboration between partner organisations from the European Union and Latin America. Using participatory co-design methods, all partners contributed equally, ensuring that the final course is culturally responsive, adaptable, and suitable for a wide range of educational and social environments.
Structured to be implemented over the duration of one academic semester, the course is organised into three core thematic chapters: Personal Development, Support and Networks, and Cultural Entrepreneurship and Promotion. Each chapter contains modular lessons that can be adjusted depending on the learner’s pace, profile, and interests. Every module includes clear learning outcomes, inclusive multisensory activities, case studies, practical exercises, and reflection tools for self-assessment and peer support.
To ensure high-quality delivery, the course is designed to be used alongside the InclusiVET Methodology Handbook, which provides Universal Design for Learning strategies, adaptation tools, assistive technology guidance, and principles for individualised planning. Ultimately, the course is not only an educational resource but also a tool for cultural change, recognising disabled artists as professionals and active contributors to inclusive societies.
